About Sencha Green Tea

Japan’s favorite organic green tea, enjoyed every day and everywhere in Japan, is the star of the traditional Japanese Sencha tea. Its light, fresh taste is unique to the Sencha, and the grassy notes give it a refreshing, cleansing Zen feel.

Sencha is high in caffeine, and can give you an almost instant energy at any time of the day. Enjoy a hot cup in the morning to prepare you for your day, or a chilled serving before you head to your workout for a highly effective boost which will really make the most of a workout session.

Quick to brew, it results in a golden beverage, with hints of natural green from the steamed tea leaves. Try it as a standalone drink, or make the most of this versatile brew by adding a little lemon, lime or mint for a surprising twist to the traditional flavor.

How to make hot Sencha:

  1. Add 2 tsp of Nanami Sencha to the infuser of a teapot.
  2. Add 16 ounces of water at 175° F into the teapot. Do not use boiling water.
  3. Steep for less than 2 minutes, remove the tea infuser from the teapot, or pour all the tea into a cup to avoid over steeping.
  4. Enjoy the second infusion by adding additional hot water to the teapot and steep for under 1 minute.

How to make iced Sencha:

  1. Add 2 tsp of Nanami Sencha in the tea infuser or tea filter.
  2. Put the infuser or filter into a bottle and add 16 ounces of filtered water.
  3. Steep in the fridge for 6-8 hours or overnight.
  4. Remove the tea infuser or filter.
  5. Add lemon juice or mint leaves for flavoring.
